Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s first look as Satyavati from the upcoming pan-Indian film KD – The Devil has been unveiled.
KD – The Devil action-packed film stars Dhruva Sarja in the lead role and is directed by Prem of “Kariya” fame. The pan-Indian film is set to release in multiple languages and has been creating a lot of buzz among moviegoers.
Actress Shilpa Shetty is making headlines in the Kannada film industry with her comeback after an 18-year gap. She announced on social media that she is joining the cast of KD – The Devil, a gangster film directed by Prem of Kariya fame, and headlined by Dhruva Sarja. The actress shared a poster featuring her character Satyavati dressed in a retro-style white saree with red polka dots and a pair of big shades. Shilpa wished her fans on Ugadi and added, “On this auspicious day of new beginnings, I’m thrilled to share with you a new character entering the war in KD’s battlefield as Satyavati.”
Shilpa Shetty’s foray into Kannada cinema started after she had become a known face in Bollywood and her debut in Tamil with Prabhudheva’s Mr Romeo (1996). She has acted in only three Kannada films so far, and her last film, Auto Shankar, was released in 2005. KD is a period film set in the late Sixties and Seventies and stars Sanjay Dutt in a pivotal role, alongside Dhruva Sarja and Ravichandran.
The teaser of KD hinted that the film is about the release of a gangster named Kaali from jail, who has thousands of enemies waiting to kill him. Lakhs of his supporters also await his return to his ‘kingdom’. It would be interesting to see with which group Shilpa’s Satyavati stands. KD is reportedly yet another after-effect of the humongous success of KGF in Sandalwood, which has made every hero in Kannada cinema come up with a gangster film. Recently, Upendra’s Kabzaa, another gangster film from Kannada, was released to a bad response at the box office.
Director Prem also welcomed Shilpa Shetty onboard in a special post, calling her a “powerhouse”. He wrote, “Wishing you all a Happy Ugadi! On this auspicious day, a powerhouse enters the war! Welcoming the powerful Shilpa Shetty to KD’s battlefield!” The makers of KD – The Devil had teased fans about a new cast member earlier this week. Prem shared a poster featuring a part of a saree and wrote, “A war is between kingdoms. And kingdoms need a powerful ‘Satyavati’. Get ready to welcome Satyavati on March 22 at 11:31 AM! A stalwart enters KD’s battlefield.”
Shilpa Shetty’s return to Kannada cinema after an 18-year gap has created a buzz among her fans, and her character Satyavati in KD – The Devil has caught the attention of the audience. With her experience and talent, the actress is sure to bring her unique style to the film and add to its charm. It remains to be seen how her character contributes to the story and whether KD – The Devil will create the same magic as KGF.
