About The Kerala Story
The Kerala Story is an Indian Hindi-language Bollywood film. Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The plot follows the story of a group of women from Kerala who are converted to Islam and join the extremist Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. The film has courted controversy for portraying itself as a real story and for making false claims that thousands of women from Kerala are being converted to Islam and recruited into ISIS. The film stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani in lead roles.
Tax-Free:
The movie has been declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, the Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh called the decision of making the film tax-free ‘good’.
“Making ‘The Kerala Story’ tax-free is a very good decision. I want the people of Uttar Pradesh to watch this film and understand how our sisters have suffered. We will also go and watch the film. The people in West Benegal will not accept the ban on this film,” he said.
For the unversed, If a movie has been made tax-free, it does not mean that the tickets will be available for free. It means that the state has waived the levy of entertainment tax and the tickets will be available at a discount.
Apart from Adah Sharma, the movie also stars Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani. ‘The Kerala Story’ has been released in 37 other countries as well.
